2025 Annual Parish Meeting - Draft Minutes

DRAFT MINUTES OF ANNUAL PARISH MEETING

Tuesday 13th May 2025 at 6.30pm

1) Welcome and Apologies for Absence: The Chair (Cllr Andy Hone) welcomed everyone to the meeting and reminded everyone that this was their meeting (and not a Parish Council meeting).  An opportunity to air views on Nocton current as well as what residents felt might be Nocton future. Apologies were received from Cllr’s Marshall, Parry and from The Clerk (who joined the meeting part way through).

1a) The Chair asked District Councillor Carrington to give his report within this meeting.  Cllr Carrington spoke on the following subjects:

  • No manifesto had yet been seen from the newly formed County Council.

  • Road repairs and signage previously promised to Nocton were hopefully still to go ahead.

Audience questions for Cllr Carrington were raised and responded to as follows:

  • The danger caused by speeding motorists and large lorries was raised; Lincolnshire Road Safety can provide signs, speed repeater signs can be purchased, hauliers seen to be driving dangerously should be written to and increased road furniture will be investigated at the time that the road is resurfaced.

2) Minutes of the Parish Meeting held on the 14th May 2025 were duly accepted and signed.

3) A discussion was then held about what activities Nocton might need in the future.  Reflection was given on the 2013 village survey which identified what residents would like to see to ensure that Nocton continued to grow as a better kept, sustainable, sociable and safe village.  The 2013 survey highlighted the following:

  • Less dog fouling

  • Less litter

  • Responsible Hall and hospital site development

  • Completion of ongoing housing development

  • Increased use of the then village hall

    • Coffee shop?

    • Village shop?

  • More activities for younger people

In light of the number of new residents in the village, it was agreed that a new way of understanding what villagers would like would be investigated (eg online survey, paper survey, focus group) and that it would be useful to engage all ages.

The Chair thanked those that had spoken and remarked that there is much activity currently in our village and that volunteers who participate in such groups should be thanked.

The meeting ended at 7:15pm with a 5 minute break before the commencement of the Annual Parish council Meeting
