NOCTON PARISH COUNCIL
Public Minutes of the Meeting of the meeting of Nocton Parish Council held at 7.00 p.m. on Tuesday, 28th April, 2022 in The Nocton Hub.

Councillors Ian Goldsworthy, Neil Faulkner, Mike Kaye, George McDonnell and MaryAnn Williams
Approx. 20 members of the public were also in attendance
1. CHAIR’S WELCOME TO THE MEETING
The Chair welcomed councillors to the meeting.
2. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
There were no apologies for absence.
3. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST
There were no declarations of interest.
4. EXCLUSION OF THE PRESS AND PUBLIC
MOVED by Councillor Mike Kaye; SECONDED by Councillor MaryAnn Williams and RESOLVED that the press and members of the public be excluded from the meeting during the consideration of the following item because of the confidential nature of the business to be transacted.
5. APPOINTMENT OF PARISH CLERK AND RESPONSIBLE FINANCIAL OFFICER
MOVED by Councillor George McDonnell; SECONDED by Councillor MaryAnn
Williams and RESOLVED that a formal offer of appointment as Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer be made to the successful applicant at the interview held on 14th March 2022 on the terms and conditions set out in the proposed and previously circulated draft Contract of Employment.
It was noted that two satisfactory references had been received and that the Chair (as Acting Clerk) would ensure that necessary requirements regarding the right to work in the UK were met before employment commenced.
It was noted that the Chair had today met with the successful applicant and agreed a provisional start date of 3 May 2022. He would now arrange for the Contract to be signed and for the necessary induction proves to begin.
Finally, it was agreed that since the existing laptop was no longer considered to be serviceable, a maximum sum of £650 be earmarked from the Reserve to enable the applicant to purchase a new laptop, printer and scanner for parish council business. Councillor George McDonnell agreed to source a replacement lead and charger for the old laptop so that any data held thereon could be transferred to the new device.
