Annual Parish Meeting - 14th May 2024

DRAFT MINUTES OF ANNUAL PARISH MEETING

Tuesday 14th May 2024 at 7.00pm

 

1) Welcome and Apologies for Absence: The Chair Cllr Andy Hone welcomed everyone to the meeting and informed everyone that the meeting would be recorded for minute taking purposes. Apologies were received from Cllr’s G McDonnell and R Marshall

 

1a) The Chair asked if the County and District Councillors would like to give their reports within this meeting; Cllr D Parry spoke on the following issues; The council term is now one year old; he went on to outline his responsibilities; the support the council give to local residents etc; The Metheringham Waste Depot; the economics of the council; the local and visitors economy; the purchase of a local hotel in Sleaford; Pride Park industrial estate; communities; homes; the NK plan to 2027 and 12 million pounds allocated to decarbonising homes.

A member of the public asked about the Right to Buy Scheme regarding council houses, Cllr Carrington answered the question and made the point that the revenue gained from these sales do not wholly go to the local authority concerned

 

1b) Cllr Carrington spoke on the following subjects: devolution and the elected Mayor 2025; finance, the LCC raised their element of the council tax by 2.9% - there is still a deficit of £10 million; roads - including the rural repair fund from Central Government; reminding us they maintain 5500 miles of roads. Councillor Davies the LCC Cabinet member with responsibility for highways has walked around the village and made certain observations including the Main Street corner near the old post office which needs permanent road metal replacement; the consideration of the 30 mile an hour speed limit from Potterhanworth. He mentioned the storm flooding in the local area. He answered question regarding the designation of the Bridle Way; Dunston Heath Road and the road from the A15 to Boothby Graffoe

 

2) Minutes of the 2023 Parish Meeting held on the 16th May 2023 were duly accepted and signed.

 

3) Reports from Village amenities and local groups. reports were made by representatives,

of:

3a) Walking Netball (20 Members): Spinning; Metheringham Pool.

3b) Nocton Cricket Club: reformed in 1980, played in the Lincoln Premier League in 2022, important to keep the club going for the youngsters.

3c) Women’s Institute; Annual Dog Show: Flower Show with arts and crafts. Gardening Club etc - and reminding us of Abraham Maslow’s 5 needs of mankind.

3d) Renew at the Hub, a group that plays an important role which relates to the welfare and wellbeing of village residents, held on Thursdays.

3e) The Ripon Arms, with roots dating back to the old Nocton Social Club. The RA now has an unrestricted licence as a Community Interest Company. A beer festival is held each spring and an October Fest in the autumn.

 

The Chair thanked those that had spoken about their group and remarked that there is much activity in our village and that volunteers who participate in such groups should be thanked. The Chair also reminded the public that the Nocton 200 Club funds are available to assist in the start up of new groups if required.

 

4) Public Participation Session: the following issues were raised - Allotment issues; Hub Climate control control (or lack of it) and the server shutter, together with the possibility of resurrecting the 200 Club.

 

The meeting ended at 8.09pm with a 5 minute break before the commencement of the Annual Parish council Meeting
